ABOUT

JAZZHAMMER. is where I will discuss things that interest me. Particularly music, film, design, and culture in general. I will even attempt to write analysis and critiques of some of the things I love. Sounds arrogant? Yeah probably so, but I promise to keep the cynicism to a minimum. At the very least, you can use the site to download some mixes that I will be continually making.

Taking some time to actually go over this site and see what I have actually done, I guess I am starting to make some sense out of it. JAZZHAMMER. is turning out to be a musical diary of sorts for me. Originally, I was trying to use this site to develop as a writer. That is great, but I haven't really had the time to work on it in order to achieve something not embarrassing. Editing alone takes such a long time. Then of course, it is all in the editing, I am finding out.

It seems that the best music websites are turning out to be sites that post rare German psych records or hot edits made for Brooklyn DJs only. Or something like Matt Ingram's Woebot which is first class writing on collections of obscure movements in music history, which is a major role model for JAZZHAMMER. --at least in the sense is that I would like the person that enjoyed that site to enjoy my site. People generally prefer this to the rantings of a 26 year old, which I am finding out, is young in the record collecting game and a reason for my current approach. The internet is wonderful for showing you what obscure REALLY is

Point in case, anyone serious enough to research roots music would not be finding much new with my reggae compilation. However, I do think they would enjoy it. Then of course what is the typical (rare) reader of this site like anyways? - Probably not that kind of reader so perhaps someone out there might catch something new. So with this musical diary, serious music adventure approach, I think it is a win-win situation. (Provided I start actually writing more.) The point I will come away with is, I am not embarrassed thus far. Its not great at any level I am aiming for, but at least I understand my goals now.

So as I originally wrote: What I dream of achieving is to spread the word on some choice things and do my part in helping put a historical context on art that is, sadly, widely ignored by the masses. I am not a hipster but a jaded old indie rocker so I will spare you from the current flavors of the week. (I hope) You still have to dig deeper to find that now-sound. This comes from my heart.

So, who's website is this anyways?

Fran is not remotely as narcissistic retarded as these picture may lead you to believe.

I will add something soon.
